Fall at Janine Chellington Press: Books, Busy Days & What’s Coming Next
Well, here we are—somehow it’s already September!
If you’ve been following along with Janine Chellington Press, you may have noticed we’ve been a little busy this year. Between new books, new authors, new products, research, editing, designing, and the occasional attempt to remember what day it is, 2026 has been quite a year!
And we are not slowing down anytime soon.
A Little Look Back
This spring, Janine Chellington Press celebrated the release of Jennifer Toelle’s first
children’s book, Scramble Street. Inspired by Jennifer’s childhood memories of growing up in Marietta, Ohio, the book takes readers back to the sights, sounds, and adventures of an Ohio neighborhood in the 1980s. With America celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, Scramble Street is also a little reminder that history is not always found in textbooks and famous dates—it can be found in the places we grew up, the games we played, and the everyday memories that helped shape us.
And because apparently one book was not enough, Jennifer is also preparing to release her second Adopting the Forgotten book!
On September 12, Adopting the Forgotten: Little Souls, Big Bonds will officially be released. This beautiful coffee-table book shifts the focus to the special bond between children and their beloved pets, bringing together historic photographs that capture those unforgettable relationships. Some of the children are identified. Others remain nameless. But in each photograph, there is a story—and often, a furry, feathered, or four-legged friend right beside them.
The book is available for order now, just in time for the official release.
More Than Just Books
Janine Chellington Press has also been having a little fun expanding beyond traditional books. We now offer curated Blind Date with a Book and Play Date with a Book packages, thoughtfully assembled for readers who enjoy a little surprise with their reading. We’ve also added handcrafted metal bookmarks to the shop—because every good book deserves a proper bookmark.

New Authors, New Stories
One of the most exciting developments this year has been welcoming several new authors to the Janine Chellington Press family.
We're also thrilled to welcome Dr. Jennifer Gordon, an inspiring educator and poet whose upcoming collection, Some Women Are Mothers, Some Women Are Heroes, will be released in the coming months. Her work promises to celebrate the strength, complexity, and stories of women in thoughtful and meaningful ways.
And Thomas Holmquist has taken us somewhere very close to home with his forthcoming book about the history of the Old Mill in Lindsborg, Kansas. This project is a collaboration with the Lindsborg Old Mill and Swedish Heritage Museum, offering readers an opportunity to explore the history and story behind one of Smoky Valley’s treasured landmarks. The book is scheduled to release this year.
Jim Norton will be back this fall with his next crime tale, A Bus Ride East. If you've enjoyed Jim's previous work, Ivey Badge: 44 and Murder at Matfield Green, you'll want to keep an eye out for this one.

And Then There's Sagacity Stories...
Of course, while Jennifer has been busy keeping Janine Chellington Press moving, she hasn not forgotten about her own writing. She's been continuing work on the next installment of the Sagacity Stories historical fiction series. The plan was originally to release Book 3, Sable & Gold, this year. But sometimes a story has other plans.
The research for this particular installment has turned out to be considerably more complex than anticipated. Rather than rush the story, Jennifer has decided to give it the time it deserves—including a research trip to South Dakota in the coming year.
So, Sable & Gold may be taking the scenic route to publication. And honestly? That's okay.
Good historical fiction takes time. It takes digging through records, chasing down details, asking questions, traveling to places, and occasionally falling down a very deep research rabbit hole. (Anyone who has ever done historical research knows exactly what we mean.)
In the meantime, if you've read Zoetic Solace and Reaching for Reveries, now is the perfect time to revisit them. And if you have not started the series yet, there's no better time to get caught up.

Our goal has always been simple: to create, curate, and connect through good stories.
We're a small press, but we're dreaming big—and we're grateful to everyone who has supported our authors, purchased our books, shared our posts, recommended our work, or simply cheered us on along the way. There are plenty more stories to tell.
And we're just getting started.
